The phrase “less is more” is by no means an uncommon phrase, but, how often do we really abide by it?
Whenever I am picking out an outfit, I tend to think about what accessories will work best with it. Recently though, I heard the saying, “you should always take off one accessory before leaving the house.” Hence, most of the time people tend to over accessorize. So, while I have been trying to keep this in mind, I still find the need to wear at least a few accessories, whatever they may be. Other times though, I realize an outfit speaks for itself and doesn’t need a lot of extras.
BUT what about outfits that are already simple to begin with? In this case, my first thought is, well of course you need to accessorize; if the outfit is simple then the accessories need to make a statement! While this proves to be true at times, I’m starting to learn this isn’t always the case. After I picked out this outfit I immediately tried to pair multiple pieces of jewelry with it. After a few minutes though, my friend and I came to the conclusion that sometimes it’s just best to keep it simple. While the outfit doesn’t have bright colors or crazy patterns, it’s clean, simple, and minimal, and that in itself is a statement. Sometimes, less really is more.
(The bracelet I am wearing in the photos, however, is from a vintage store in Prague. I feel that while the bracelet is large, the color and texture are subdued enough so it pairs perfectly with the gray and black).
